LED lighting

Over the holiday break USD 298 had all the fluorescent lighting fixtures in the buildings changed to LED lighting.  Motion detectors were also installed in various locations to shut off lights during prolonged times with no activity.  If you are out and about, either in the buildings or in the gymnasiums, you should notice a much brighter environment.  USD 298 is very fortunate to receive funds from the wind farm PILOT program.  These funds allow the district to make investments in capital improvements like this LED conversion outside of the normal operating budget of the district.  The district is guaranteed to save over $20,000.00 in electrical expenses per year with this conversion.  On top of the utility savings, LED lighting does not have the health issues associated with it, such as headaches from fluorescent bulb flicker.  We are excited for our students and our staff to have brighter facilities for learning.  Come by and see the difference!
