Last weekend, May 25-May 26, two members of the Lincoln High School track team traveled to Cessna Stadium in Wichita to compete at the largest track meet in the nation. Freshman Jaycee Vath and junior Aubry Donley both qualified for state in two events; Jaycee in the 1 mile and 2 mile, Aubry in the 400 meter and 800 meter run. Beginning the weekend, Jaycee ran the 2 mile Friday evening. She received 3rd place with a time of 11:41.59, beating her own personal record. Jaycee then ran the 1 mile the next day and received 3rd place with a time of 5:24.45. What an amazing feat! Only being a freshman, we have many more years to look forward to watching her compete! Aubry ran 400 meter preliminaries on Friday afternoon and was ranked 2nd in finals that were to be ran the next day. On Saturday afternoon Aubry became the champion on the 400 meter dash in class 2A, with a time of 58.17, a new personal record. A couple hours later she ran the 800 meter dash. Aubry was named champion in the 800 meter dash as well with a time of 2:21.37, also a personal record and a new school record. With only two girls, Lincoln came out 7th of 42 in team rankings. These girls represented our school greatly! We are so proud to say these ladies are a part of Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School! Carson Walter, Contributor
