Come support the Lincoln FFA Friday! 💙💛

This last month in character education class at LES, all students have been learning about emotions. The 2nd-5th graders have been learning about the brain and the stress response. They learned that their prefrontal cortex (PFC) is like a thoughtful turtle that helps them think before acting, make smart choices, problem solve, act kindly, and recognize/handle emotions. They learned that their amygdala is like a protective porcupine that helps protect them from dangers, prepare their body for fight/flight/freeze (stress response), and shut down their PFC in order to react quickly and effectively. These grades also learned how to recognize when their thoughtful turtle or their protective porcupine was in charge and things they could do to help their protective porcupine relax and not over-work. This is one of Mrs. Ptacek's all-time favorite lessons and it became a student favorite too! All 2nd-5th graders were given a packet last Friday with helpful information and tools from this lesson, so if you have a student/s in these grades please talk to them about it and check it out. This is one that can even be helpful for adults!

Attn LES Parents and Guardians: "2"maro is the ultimate day of "2". Students, staff and community members are invited to dress up in Ties, Tie-Dye, Tennis Shoes, Tutus, Tiaras, and/or dress as Twins or Famous Duos to celebrate 2-22-22.
