Lincoln Elementary School would like to extend our deepest gratitude to those individuals who currently serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families. LES students were privileged to have Ms. Becky Holliday, LES Vocal and Band Teacher, speak to them today on her experiences in the military. When she is not teaching for USD 298, Ms. Holliday is Staff Sergeant Holliday in the Army Reserve Band.

USD 298 continues to benefit from the Dane G. Hansen Northwest Kansas Learns Program. This program provides free educational opportunities for schools in Hansen counties. Instructors from the Kansas Cosmosphere visited Mrs. Obermueller's Fourth Grade class this week and taught lessons on Robotics. The students were able to program their robots in pairs using computer coding to complete a maze. Owen D., Keynan F., Jahdiel M., and Alexis H. are all pictured with their robots. Great Job Fourth Graders!

Due to USDA extending the free meals program through the end of our school year, if a student has a lunch balance, parents are eligible for a lunch account refund. If you prefer, balances can be left in the account for the 2021-2022 school year. Please contact your child's school office if you want a refund. Refunds will be made prior to the Thanksgiving break.

Parents and Guardians of USD 298. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority during these uncertain times. I have consulted with our Lincoln County Health Department, Kansas Department of Education, Kansas Department of Health, our local school board, and the faculty and staff of USD 298. The combination of all of this input has made it clear that USD 298 needs to extend the mask mandate policy through the semester until the Christmas break. At that point, I will again gather data from multiple sources to determine the best course of action for the safety of our students and staff. To summarize, USD 298 will continue to require masks for all students and staff for the remainder of this semester. We would appreciate your support as we make these difficult decisions. Thank you.
