We call them secretaries but they do so much more in our schools than that – they hold our school together with their organization and problem-solving skills – they know what is going on when and where – they have the enthusiasm and energy for multi-tasking throughout their day. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to our students, teachers and staff. You are the heart of our schools!

Exciting times in the Jr. High Science department. We recently added a Bearded Dragon, Cheeto, to our classroom. Thank you to everyone that donated to help us get a terrarium and a stand, so he has plenty of room to roam around and grow.

Our district is fortunate to have another great volunteer, Rita Vonada, who works on reading skills one-on-one with some of our younger Lincoln Elementary students. As a certified teacher and Reading Specialist, Mrs. Vonada has been volunteering her time in our district for 8 years – what a difference she has made in the educational journey for students at USD 298 Lincoln! She states that she gets to know each child and that each day is a new day for her because of the interesting quirks of each child. Thank you, Mrs. Vonada!

Our community is honored to have a special group of men who volunteer their time as our local VFW Color Guard – we thank you for your service to our country and thank you for attending the Lincoln Leopard football games to raise the American flag.

Volunteers give their time and skills, and all without expecting anything in return. A great example would be Lincoln PTCO. This school year PTCO has – purchased a track tent, purchased school supplies for teachers, donated gift cards to teachers, donated snacks for students during state assessment testing, supplied meals for teacher appreciation and parent-teacher conferences, donated money to the LES AR program, and have student supply packets available for parents to purchase at the beginning of each school year. In order to fund service projects they have concession stands and tailgates at local sporting events and other fundraisers. We appreciate all that you do for our staff and students – thank you!

This week we say “thank you” to the volunteers who lend their time, talents and voices to make a difference in our student’s educational journey. Whether you are tutoring students, taking tickets at school events, announcing at ball games, organizing a school party, heading up a fundraising committee, working at scholars bowl and forensics, being a worker at track meet – our school needs volunteers and appreciates all that they do to make a stronger community for our students!
