Keep Our Kids Safe:
National School Bus Safety Week October 17-21
Slow Down, Obey the School Bus Stop Signs
In every state, it is illegal to pass a school bus while the school bus stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing. Although the school bus is one of the safest modes of transportation, illegal school bus passing is a deadly risk to bus riders and their caretakers. Drivers should always come to a complete stop when a school bus stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.
It is so important that drivers in our community heed the school bus stop-arm laws. School bus riders and their caretakers are relying on drivers to follow the law to keep them safe.
The school bus loading and unloading area is called the “Danger Zone. Specifically, this is any side of the bus where a child may not be seen by the bus driver and, therefore, is in the most danger. These areas include:
• 10 feet in front of the bus, where the driver may be sitting too high to see a child
• 10 feet on either side of the bus, where a child may be in the driver’s blind spots
• Behind the school bus
Let’s work together to keep our children safe as they wait to ride the bus to and from school. Slow down and obey the signs.

Leopard Victory!!! 40-20

Leopards lead at half 20-14 against Bennington.

***NEW*** bracket for NPL league volleyball tomorrow for the high school.

We've had a groovy time celebrating National School Lunch Week - Peace, Love & School Lunch. Here's another way cool fact - our school lunches meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium and offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk.

A healthy school lunch contributes to a student’s success both in and out of the classroom. Students can enjoy the convenience of a healthy school lunch for just $3.50 at the elementary or $3.75 at the jr/sr high school. Some students may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Contact Norma Kobbeman at the district board office (785) 524-4436, to learn more. Hope you've enjoyed the activities shared for National School Lunch Week. Here's one more to try and the answer guide.
