Attn LES Parents/Guardians, the following is important information on Parent Teacher Conferences.
Thank you to all parents who have signed up for their child's conferences through Sign up Genius. If you did not receive a link for your child's teacher, first please check your spam folder. If it is still not there, please call or email the office for a link. If a time slot is marked as virtual or phone, and you would like to meet in person please select the slot and note this in the comments box. On Monday those parents who have not signed up for slots will be called by the office to arrange conference times. This year in order to approve efficiency and reduce waste, particularly in times of shortages of copier tonier, LES will print your child's grade card for Parent Teacher Conferences only. If you would like to see your student's grades prior to this time, please check their Powerschool account. If you do not have a Powerschool account please email white.brenda@usd298.com for more information. We appreciate your continued patience and flexibility as we try new programs to increase communication and efficiency.
Congratulations to the senior Leopard football players. They will be recognized at 6:30 pm prior to the game. The NFHS livestream will start at 6:25 pm for the recognition and the game.

An Apple A Day...LES 4th grade students enjoying a juicy Red Delicious Apple. This summer LES was awarded a grant to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to K-5 students in the afternoons. Yesterday, was the first day of dispersing to students foods from this grant. Students will be able to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the school year on select afternoons. Key components of the grant are providing a variety of fruits and vegetables, introduction to new and exotic fruits and vegetables for students, and using locally grown fruits and vegetables. Thank you to Norma Kobbeman, Aliesha Baird, and Denise Schmidt for their collaboration on this important grant for student nutrition.
Attn LES Parents/Guardians: Fall School Pictures will be coming home with your student today. If you did not receive your picture or there is an issue with your order, please let the office know and we will contact Eberle Studios directly. If you would like a picture retake please bring your pictures back to school by Picture Retake Day on October 20. On October 20, pictures for any student who missed the September 14th date will occur. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to notify the LES office. Thank you.

The 7th and 8th graders had a STEM project to improve the wind turbines because over 140,000 birds a year die because of a collision with a wind turbine. They had some great ideas.

Attn LES parents/guardians: Due to the current mask mandate and in the interest of safety, the meal that was to be provided to families during Parent Teacher Conferences is postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. Beginning tomorrow at 10 a.m., parents and guardians will be able to sign up on a computer or phone for Parent Teacher Conferences for their student's teachers. Each classroom teacher and the Music, Art, Spanish and PE teachers will each have their own sign up links. Please check the email address you have provided to the school for each teacher's link. Conferences will be available in person, via Zoom or by phone. If an option is only available for Zoom or by phone, but you would prefer to be in person please sign up for the time slot but let the office know. Masks will be required of all participants in Parent Teacher Conferences. Please be patient with us as we try this new automated program. Thank you, Mrs. Schmidt
Join us as we celebrate National School Lunch Week this week. Our school lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium. Thanks to pandemic waivers, school meals are free for all students this school year, so it’s a great time to give school lunch a try.
2nd Grade enjoyed a field trip to P & M Pumpkin Ranch on October 5.
Post 3 of 4- These LES students were nominated for Leopard Leaders this week! When a student is nominated for a Leopard Leader by a staff member their picture (shown below) is displayed on the TV in our hallway for one week, they get to take a Leopard Leader paper home, and they get to ring our big hand bell on Friday when they come to Character Education class. Check out how these students showed great character!
