School transportation employees play an important role in the safety of Kansas children – so to help honor their dedication and expertise, Gov. Laura Kelly has designated today as School Transportation Appreciation Day. The theme for this year’s campaign is Be Safe – Know the Danger Zone. Thank you to our DS Bus Line drivers for taking special care of our students – we truly appreciate all you do!
In Kansas, there were 4,366 school bus drivers during the 2020-2021 school year who transported 188,848 students more than 23 million miles. Check out safety tips here: https://5il.co/10l7w
“School transportation employees play an important role in the safety of our students,” said Keith Dreiling, director of the Kansas State Department of Education’s School Bus Safety Unit. “There is a critical shortage of school bus drivers, not only in Kansas, but across the nation. We just don’t have enough school bus drivers to fill the need. We are asking community members to consider driving a school bus if they can, and I want to encourage the state of Kansas to help celebrate the men and women who currently sit behind the wheel of our buses and dedicate their time and talent to keeping our students safe.”
Congratulations to our senior volleyball players.

LES students went on a Sasquatch Hunt in PE class on Friday October 8th. They traveled the United States to try to find Bigfoot! They finally found him at Lincoln Elementary, where he shared Hug juice with them!

Post 5 of 5- These LES students were nominated for Leopard Leaders this week! When a student is nominated for a Leopard Leader by a staff member their picture (shown below) is displayed on the TV in our hallway for one week, they get to take a Leopard Leader paper home, and they get to ring our big hand bell on Friday when they come to Character Education class. Check out how these Leopards showed great character!

Attn LES Parents/Guardians, the following is important information on Parent Teacher Conferences.
Thank you to all parents who have signed up for their child's conferences through Sign up Genius. If you did not receive a link for your child's teacher, first please check your spam folder. If it is still not there, please call or email the office for a link. If a time slot is marked as virtual or phone, and you would like to meet in person please select the slot and note this in the comments box. On Monday those parents who have not signed up for slots will be called by the office to arrange conference times. This year in order to approve efficiency and reduce waste, particularly in times of shortages of copier tonier, LES will print your child's grade card for Parent Teacher Conferences only. If you would like to see your student's grades prior to this time, please check their Powerschool account. If you do not have a Powerschool account please email white.brenda@usd298.com for more information. We appreciate your continued patience and flexibility as we try new programs to increase communication and efficiency.
Congratulations to the senior Leopard football players. They will be recognized at 6:30 pm prior to the game. The NFHS livestream will start at 6:25 pm for the recognition and the game.
