Congratulations to Shari Pittenger for being selected as Kansas Physical Education Elementary Teacher of the Year. Her teaching career started in Lincoln in February, 1987. Her PE program includes fitness, recreation, team building and physical literacy. Mrs. Pitt, a nickname her students call her, makes classes fun and includes a variety of activities so every student has success. We are proud of you and congratulations! It’s a great day to be a Leopard!
Lincoln HS VB travels to Sylvan to compete in the Sub-State Volleyball Tournament. The first game starts at 1 p.m. Spectators must have a ticket to gain entrance. The Lincoln HS Cross Country Team competes in the Regional CC at RILEY COUNTY HS (Leonardville Golf Course), Saturday, October 24 with start times: GIRLS - 12:00 p.m. BOYS - 12:35 p.m. They are asking to limit fans for this event to 4 per runner. Good Luck Leopards!
LJSHS Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held tonight, Thursday, October 22nd from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. All conferences will be held in the gymnasium to maintain social distancing. Please come at a time that is convenient for you. We are requesting that only parents/guardians attend in an effort to keep the number of attendees to a minimum. We are requiring masks in the building at this time and ask that you honor our request. Additionally, we will be taking temperatures upon entering. We look forward to meeting new faces and visiting with our veteran parents!
National School Bus Safety Week is October 19-23, 2020, and the theme is "Red Lights Mean STOP!". Kansas law requires all motorists to stop when approaching or overtaking a stopped school bus displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm. Motorists are to remain stopped until the bus is no longer displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm. Violation of the law is punishable by a fine and court costs in excess of $420.

Vyve Broadband is excited to offer free internet service to new and current customers in qualified low income households within our district between now and the end of 2020. As a part of the federal CARES Act funding, the State of Kansas via the Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas (SPARK) taskforce, Vyve Broadband was awarded grant money to provide free internet service to a limited number of low-income families in Kansas within the communities Vyve serves to mitigate the adverse impacts of COVID-19.
Vyve will provide 25/3 internet package to qualified low income families who have students in the K-12 system, free of charge for the remainder of 2020. Qualifications are provided by the school district through a recognized means such as the National Lunch Program.
Parents will need to fill out a Consent for Disclosure form and turn it into the BOE office giving the district permission to give Vyve their contact information. Signups via the school are accepted through December 10. Click here for the Consent for Disclosure. https://5il.co/m91q
Things to note:
1. Funding support is only through December 30, 2020.
2. This is only available for families that go through the school system to sign up.
3. This is only available to families who qualify based on certain low-income criteria.
4. Internet service can only be provided to families where Vyve provides service (mainly in Lincoln city limits).
5. After the free usage period, the modem will be turned off and returned to Vyve. Customers would have the option to keep the service and add to their prepaid account for another 30 days at any time.
LES Parents/Guardians: If you have a temporary remote learner you make pick up materials starting at 7:35-8:05 tomorrow morning in the regular LES morning drop off car line. Please remember to enter from South Street and exit on Yauger St. You may park and wait for a staff member to bring you materials. Please be patient and flexible as children will be exiting cars to enter school at this time as well. A staff member will stay at the gym door untill 10:00 a.m. If these times do not work please call the office and make other arrangements. Thank you,

LJSHS Parents/guardians: The LJSHS band concert scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2020 has been canceled due to the restricted spectator and mask mandate. We will be working on an alternate virtual concert in the near future. Please stay tuned!
The HS JV Football game scheduled for Monday, October 19, at Sylvan has been cancelled.
